Concentrated HealingIntroducing “Pure Gold” – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
This ground-breaking technology utilizes the patient’s blood, separates out the red blood cells and leaves a concentrate of serum platelets and other growth factors as a powerful restorative medicine. The introduction of this patient specific medicine stimulates a healing process that helps the body repair itself. The PRP procedure capitalizes on the body’s own healing potential for maximizing recovery from an injury and degenerative/age related conditions. This regenerative injection technique is gaining popularity not only in orthopedic and sports medicine, but also in aesthetic medicine. And it’s 100% natural!
PRP for Aesthetics
“Pure Gold” (PRP) therapy is growing in the field of anti-aging medicine because of the many satisfying and long lasting results. As a non-surgical procedure, delivering “pure gold” into the skin has a collagen induction effect. The concentrated platelets and growth factors have a rejuvenating effect that diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. The stimulation of stem cells to differentiate and repair tissue has been giving people a more youthful appearance. This has been popularized by Hollywood stars.
The PRP Process
The PRP treatment requires a blood draw that is done in our clinic, followed by some specialized processing. Once prepared, the “pure gold” (PRP) can be injected into the targeted tissue using FDA approved equipment. The procedures are very well tolerated and most patients are able to go back to regular activities within a day or two.
What are the risks associated with PRP therapy?
PRP has inherently fewer risks and side effects than many other therapies because the restorative injection is made from your own blood. Although the risk of bruising and infection exist for all injection procedures, the doctor and staff do their best to minimize these risks for every patient.
What are the costs of PRP?
Costs may vary depending on certain details. Generally speaking, orthopedic injections in a peripheral joint range from $500 to $1,000 per treatment. Aesthetic procedures range from $750 to $1,500. While this therapy requires specialized equipment and special certifications, Dr. Macart wants to keep such procedures approachable and accessible to most patients. You may wish to check if you have any third party coverage that helps with fees.
What to expect?
Injections may be followed by a brief period of swelling and/or bruising. This should resolve after a couple of days. Over the following months, new collagen and blood vessels will form, supporting and smoothing your tissues. Your complexion may also even out and appear more radiant. Most patients will choose more than one PRP treatment and many follow with a microneedle procedure after a couple of weeks.
